There can be different types of funerals, and each type denotes the type of burial service and traditions. Generally, religious and cultural beliefs dictate how a traditional funeral should be conducted. The burials and funerals can range from having standard burial services such as a funeral home, church, graveyard, or synagogue.

Among the many types of funerals are:

Committal Service:

A committal service is a Christian tradition that takes place at the gravesite. It usually takes place after the significant funeral service and symbolizes the dead person’s burial site. However, in a cemetery ritual, the commitment can also occur when burying the remains or in a crematorium.

Cremation Services:

Cremation is a method of reducing the body to its most simple elements and transforming it into ashes. Cremation is one of the popular choices for the funeral service arrangement that’s gaining traction as a viable alternative to traditional burial services. Cremation has several advantages, including being cost-effective and allowing the deceased’s ashes to be kept or scattered elsewhere.

Burial Services:

Following the main funeral ritual, the casket is then placed into the grave for the burial. This burial services is attended by the families, friends, and relatives of the dead person, and this also includes prayers and music that reflect the deceased’s religious views.

Wake:

A wake is a solemn service that takes place soon before the actual funeral ritual commences. Because traditional wakes have their roots in Catholicism, the believers are encouraged to say the Rosary during the service. Wakes are usually held in people’s homes, but many funeral houses also host them. These types of funeral services are also called viewings or visitations.

Many families have been adopting contemporary remembrance or memorial services over the traditional funeral practices.  Including them in the remembrance of a loved one can enhance the sentiment. A memorial ceremony is completely unrestricted and can be denoted as something unique, such as an afternoon tea moment or intimate discussions, or a moment of peace. The burial services also take care of these arrangements and set them up.

Post-Funeral receptions:

A post-funeral reception is an extra service that allows family, friends, and loved ones to spend time together while honouring the deceased’s life. They’re frequently held in a more relaxed and comfortable setting, tailored to your specific needs. When planning a funeral reception, you must select a suitable site, prepare food services, and, of course, inform attendees of pertinent information.

Scattering Service:

When the deceased’s family decides on scattering the ashes or remains of the deceased instead of keeping or burring them, it is called scattering service. The ashes can be scattered at any favorite place of the deceased in the wind by the family. Generally, such types of ceremonies are simple. The ashes can be scattered in the water quietly and peacefully by the family, and they can decide to make a firework display out of them.
